About Kate

Master of Counselling (Distinction), PG Cert Palliative Care

Hello! I am Kate Owen.

I started Still Ground to give people Self Compassion tools to find a more settled and kinder relationship with themselves while navigating times of challenge and change.

I have over 10 years experience working alongside people of all ages adjusting to life after changes and loss. I have worked for CanTeen in both New Zealand and Australia planning and delivering peer support programmes, as a school counsellor and for Hospice Southland as a counsellor and workshop faciliatator. The skills I learnt as a counsellor were hugely beneficial to helping me adjust to parenthood during the pandemic, my hope is to share this knowledge with others. I also have a passion for education and theory and work as an educator for Hospice and a tutor for the University of Canterbury Counselling Programme.

I am a provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and work in accordance with the NZAC Code of Ethics.
